Associate Fuel Officer

About the role

The Associate Fuel Officer supports the Fuel Officer in the Life Support Section of the United Nations Support Office in Haiti. Based in Port‑au‑Prince, this temporary full‑time position assists with fuel management, operations, fraud prevention, quality control and invoice verification for mission assets.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor projects to improve management of fuel assets, storage, equipment and related facilities such as bladders and tank systems.
• Maintain a central record of fuel inventories, task orders and deliveries, coordinating between regional fuel staff and the Mission Fuel Unit.
• Contribute to the development of outsourced fuel contracts, including statements of work, technical evaluations, requisitioning and invoicing verification.
• Communicate with regional fuel supervisors to resolve supply‑chain issues, administer fuel assets and handle write‑offs.
• Track and account for fuel using the Mission Electronic Fuel Management System (eFMS).
• Manage regional Quality Assurance plans and act as a Quality Assurance Surveillance Evaluator, scheduling inspections and reviewing contractor facilities.
• Investigate fuel accounting discrepancies and conduct periodic physical verification of fuel records.

Required profile

• Professional knowledge of fuel or similar consumable goods supply chains, operations and contract management.
• Ability to define business rules for fuel supply and demonstrate high professionalism and competence.
• Strong analytical skills for fraud prevention, quality control and invoice verification.
