Principal Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Officer

About the role

The United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti is seeking a senior professional to lead its Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Service. Reporting directly to the Senior Resident Representative, the officer will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for DDR activities across the mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the DDR Service, ensuring alignment with the mission’s overall mandate.
• Coordinate DDR programmes with political affairs, civilian police, military components, logistics and other UNCT entities.
• Advise mission leadership on DDR policy, timing, and integration with the peace agreement.
• Develop and manage the DDR strategic plan, budget, and resource mobilization strategy.
• Represent the DDR Service at international, regional and national forums.
• Support the national DDR commission and other Haitian authorities with policy guidance and regular updates.
• Ensure high‑quality reporting, data‑driven analysis and effective communication of DDR progress to the international community.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in DDR programmes, preferably in post‑conflict settings.
• Proven ability to lead large, multi‑disciplinary teams and manage substantial budgets.
• Strong knowledge of UN policies, peace‑building processes and donor coordination.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation and diplomatic skills.
