Project Associate – Water and Sanitation (WASH) – Belladère

About the role

The Project Associate will support the implementation and management of water and sanitation (WASH) activities at entry and transit points on the Haitian‑Dominican border. Working under the Emergency Coordinator and Programme Coordinator WASH, the incumbent will be part of the Belladère WASH team and collaborate with multidisciplinary partners to ensure interventions meet protection‑sensitive standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and monitoring WASH facilities at points of entry, including rehabilitation of water networks, water sources, sanitation facilities and basic hygiene promotion.
• Monitor partners and contractors (e.g., desludging, water trucking, rehabilitation works) and report non‑compliances.
• Conduct rapid technical assessments, analyse data, and support planning and cost estimation for interventions.
• Draft status reports, correspondence, briefing notes, graphics, tables and presentations; identify shortfalls and propose remedial actions.
• Verify construction quality and functionality of water supply, sanitation and waste‑management systems before authorising final payments.
• Communicate project objectives to beneficiary communities using context‑appropriate messaging and coordinate with local leaders to secure acceptance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology or a related field with at least three years of relevant professional experience, OR a school diploma in the same fields with five years of experience.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing WASH projects in humanitarian or border settings.
