Chief of Unit, Transport

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking a senior professional to lead its Transport Unit. Reporting to the Chief of Service Delivery, the Chief of Unit, Transport will oversee the management of global assets, vehicle fleets and related logistical support for UNSOH, BINUH and partner entities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise the provision of global assets and equipment support, including United Nations owned equipment.
• Develop and manage the Vehicle Establishment, overseeing acquisition, receipt, distribution, maintenance, utilization and disposal of the vehicle fleet.
• Implement the Global Assets Management Program in line with Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance and Department of Operational Support directives.
• Create and execute the Assets Acquisition Plan, Maintenance and Care Plan, and Life Cycle Management Plan to meet operational requirements.
• Design cost‑effective resupply strategies for assets and equipment, evaluating leasing, Equipment‑as‑a‑Service (EaaS) and other outsourcing models.
• Liaise with UN agencies, NGOs, intergovernmental organisations and suppliers to secure assets and equipment support.
• Ensure inventory control and supervise annual physical checks of assets and equipment.
• Develop standard operating procedures for assets and equipment operations in field missions and supported entities.
• Manage the unit budget in compliance with UN financial regulations.
• Oversee preparation of performance reports and responses to audit observations, acting as Certifying Officer for resource use and accounting.
