Close Protection Officer

About the role

The Close Protection Officer (FS-6) is based in the United Nations Support Office in Haiti and serves as the Close Protection Coordinator. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, the role oversees the planning, coordination and execution of close‑protection activities for senior UN officials and other designated protectees.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage the Close Protection Team in line with UN policies, SOPs and mission‑specific guidance.
• Gather, assess and analyse tactical information, contributing to threat and risk assessments.
• Develop, review and implement mitigation strategies and operational plans for identified threats.
• Deploy and oversee close‑protection operations, ensuring compliance with UN methodology and standards.
• Liaise with Haitian police, military and other security authorities to secure integrated coverage.
• Accompany senior UN officials during official travel and provide security briefings.
• Prepare operational reports, lessons learned and recommendations for the Chief Security Officer.

Required profile

• Professionalism with solid knowledge of internal security policies, local laws and UN protection standards.
• Ability to gather information from multiple sources, apply sound judgment and remain calm in emergencies.
• Physical fitness, emotional stability and willingness to work shifts and irregular hours.
• High sense of responsibility, trustworthiness and alertness in high‑risk environments.
