Engineer – UN Support Office (Port-au-Prince)

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking an experienced Engineer to join its Engineering Section in Port‑au‑Prince. Reporting to the Chief Engineer (P‑5), the incumbent will support critical infrastructure projects and field operations in a high‑threat, rapidly evolving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors and technical staff to deliver infrastructure, construction, and maintenance projects.
• Assist the Chief Engineer in planning, prioritising, and monitoring engineering activities to meet scope, schedule, cost and quality targets.
• Provide technical advice on design, construction methodology, utilities, physical security works and facilities management.
• Develop short‑, medium‑ and long‑term engineering plans for mission facilities, considering operational priorities and security constraints.
• Manage contract implementation, quality assurance and risk management for engineering works.

Required profile

• Professional engineering experience with a focus on design, planning, contract management or field construction.
• Ability to operate in complex, high‑threat field mission environments.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills for supervising multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Engineering design and technical documentation.
• Construction management and supervision of civil works (roads, bridges, water, sanitation, electrical).
• Contract management and cost control.
• Familiarity with Umoja real‑estate and engineering transaction systems.
