Humanitarian Access Safety & Security (HASS) Advisor

About the role

The Humanitarian Access Safety & Security (HASS) Advisor supports the Country Program in Haiti to develop and maintain effective humanitarian access, safety, and security systems. Working closely with the Country Director, HASS Manager, senior management team and program partners, the Advisor provides technical leadership, analysis, mentoring, coaching and quality assurance to ensure principled humanitarian operations in a complex, high‑risk environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic guidance on humanitarian access, safety and security to senior leadership.
• Conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation plans.
• Advise on safety protocols and ensure compliance with humanitarian principles.
• Mentor and coach the HASS Manager and other senior staff.
• Support the design and testing of contingency and evacuation plans.
• Review and improve access negotiation strategies with armed actors.
• Coordinate with local partners and other NGOs to enhance collective security.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian access, safety or security in high‑risk settings.
• Strong analytical and advisory skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.
• Experience working with NGOs or INGOs in conflict‑affected environments.
• Excellent communication, mentoring and capacity‑building abilities.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of the Haitian context is a plus.
