Construction Specialist – UNICEF Haiti (Les Cayes)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Construction Specialist to provide technical oversight and monitoring of construction and rehabilitation projects across Haiti’s southern departments. Based in Les Cayes, you will ensure that schools, health facilities, and child‑friendly spaces are built to safe, resilient, and child‑friendly standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the construction unit and coordinate with UNICEF programmes and operations.
• Support planning, implementation, and quality assurance of construction activities.
• Coordinate preparation of design and technical documents.
• Assist with procurement processes related to construction works.
• Provide technical monitoring and oversight throughout project lifecycles.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering, architecture, construction engineering or a related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work in complex humanitarian environments.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of construction engineering and architecture.
• Experience with design documentation and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with procurement procedures for construction projects.
• Ability to monitor and ensure quality compliance on site.
