Humanitarian Affairs Officer – AIT Liaison

About the role

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is seeking a Humanitarian Affairs Officer to serve as the liaison for the Accountability and Impact Team (AIT). Based in Port‑au‑Prince, Haiti, the incumbent will support OCHA’s mission to coordinate effective humanitarian action and ensure accountability of donor contributions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and report on humanitarian developments, disaster relief and emergency situations that may affect the Humanitarian Financing Unit.
• Organise and prepare studies on humanitarian and emergency relief issues, including inter‑agency technical review meetings.
• Participate in large‑scale disaster assessments and missions, coordinating international assistance and drafting situation reports for the international community.
• Partner with other humanitarian agencies to plan and evaluate programmes, integrating gender considerations and lessons learned.
• Manage the production of appeals for international assistance and ensure proper use of donor contributions channeled through OCHA.
• Establish and maintain contacts with government officials, UN agencies, NGOs, diplomatic missions and media.

Required profile

• Works under the overall supervision of the OCHA Head of Office or delegate.
• Collaborates closely with the Head of Humanitarian Finance Unit/Envelope Manager.
