IT Support Officer – First-Line Support & Inventory Management

About the role

The IT Support Officer provides first‑line technical assistance to all users while managing the tracking, distribution, and maintenance of office and IT inventory. The role ensures systems remain functional, data is protected, and assets are accurately recorded to support continuous business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design, and implement network security measures, including firewall configuration and encryption protocols.
• Monitor host security, address vulnerabilities, and maintain system integrity.
• Install, upgrade, and uninstall software across computers and network environments.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues to minimise downtime.
• Perform regular troubleshooting and data recovery to protect business information.
• Evaluate and recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, and software within budget constraints.
• Provide technical consultancy to departments and collaborate with the cybersecurity team on threat mitigation.
• Monitor and optimise network performance, maintaining comprehensive documentation of configurations and procedures.
• Ensure cloud backup tools are correctly used and operational.
• Conduct asset management, including physical inventory checks, reconciliation, and updating of the asset register.
• Assist the inventory/warehouse team with stock tracking, data entry, and periodic reconciliations.
• Manage office supplies, maintain filing systems, and support report preparation.

Required profile

• Experience providing first‑line IT support.
• Familiarity with network security concepts and firewall configuration.
• Ability to manage IT and office asset inventories accurately.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network issues.
