Associate Electoral Officer

About the role

The Associate Electoral Officer will support the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) in promoting political stability and good governance through electoral assistance. Reporting to the Electoral Officer and Senior Electoral Officer, the role involves monitoring political developments, preparing briefing materials, and advising Haiti’s national electoral authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor political and electoral trends, providing analysis and briefing notes for senior management.
• Assist in drafting legal texts and support electoral dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Compile periodic reports on electoral and political developments for Headquarters and the Electoral Officer.
• Implement programmes in areas such as electoral training, civic education, legal frameworks, operations, security, IT development, and voter registration, as directed.
• Provide advice to national electoral authorities on design and implementation of electoral processes.
• Address policy guidance, logistics, and other electoral needs promptly.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
• Effective planning and organizing abilities, capable of setting clear goals and meeting deadlines.
