Associate Engineer – Civil Engineering & Facility Management

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti is seeking an Associate Engineer to support civil engineering, facilities planning and real‑estate management for its operations in Port‑au‑Prince. The role is temporary, full‑time, and reports to the Chief of the Engineering Section.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and design tasks for buildings, roads, bridges, helipads, water and waste systems, and related infrastructure.
• Conduct preliminary site investigations, gather soil and drainage data, and assist in site selection.
• Prepare design layouts and cost estimates for small‑scale projects and contribute to budget projections.
• Create and update architectural and engineering drawings using AutoCAD, and convert legacy drawings into digital formats.
• Coordinate with the GIS office to integrate drawings into mission‑wide mapping resources.
• Develop technical specifications, analyze project proposals for feasibility, and support implementation monitoring.

Required profile

• University degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional engineering knowledge applicable to construction, infrastructure, and facility management.
• Ability to work on site inspections, measurements and physical surveys.
• Experience in preparing cost data and supporting budget processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD for architectural and engineering drawing production.
• Familiarity with GIS tools for spatial data integration.
