Civil Engineer – QA/QC & OSH Compliance Officer

About the role

The Engineering and Facilities Management Section seeks a qualified Civil Engineer to lead quality assurance, quality control and occupational safety & health (OSH) oversight for a range of construction projects. You will ensure that civil works, roads, drainage, buildings and related infrastructure are delivered in line with UN technical specifications, quality standards and safety policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of QA/QC and OSH activities across all engineering and construction projects.
• Verify compliance of civil works with approved drawings, specifications, BOQs and method statements.
• Develop, implement and monitor Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists and quality records.
• Identify, document and track non‑conformities, defects and corrective actions through NCR registers.
• Support the implementation of UN OSH policies, monitor site safety performance and ensure contractor compliance.
• Assist in incident investigations, hazard reporting and corrective‑action management.
• Maintain comprehensive quality and safety documentation, records and reporting systems.
• Promote continuous improvement in quality performance, safety awareness and risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in QA/QC and OSH oversight on construction projects.
• Familiarity with UN or international engineering standards and safety regulations.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
