Convoy Leader

About the role

The Convoy Leader will oversee the safe and efficient movement of heavy‑truck convoys transporting food and non‑food items across Haiti. Reporting to the Fleet and Garage Manager, you will coordinate drivers, monitor progress via radio communications, and ensure compliance with client procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and guide a team of heavy‑truck drivers throughout each convoy.
• Provide hourly updates on convoy position and status using HF, VHF, and Thuraya radios.
• Make safety‑first decisions, handling breakdowns, accidents, or any hazards promptly.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, report defects, and ensure mechanical readiness.
• Maintain clean, well‑maintained trucks and accurate logbooks.
• Oversee loading to meet payload limits, ensure even cargo distribution, and verify waybills at destination.
• Manage fuel consumption, refueling schedules, and ensure sufficient funds for unloading.
• Report any incidents immediately to supervisors and ensure trucks travel only to authorized destinations.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a logistics or transport environment.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to make rapid, sound judgments.
• Comfortable working in field conditions across varied Haitian localities.
• Ability to coordinate with fleet managers and maintain clear communication.
