Convoy Leader

About the role

The Convoy Leader will oversee the safe and efficient movement of heavy‑truck convoys transporting food and non‑food items across Haiti. Reporting to the Fleet and Garage Manager, the incumbent ensures compliance with client procedures and maintains high safety standards throughout each journey.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and guidance to heavy‑truck drivers within the convoy.
• Manage telecommunications using HF, VHF, and Thuraya radios, reporting convoy progress hourly.
• Make safety‑first decisions, addressing any hazards or breakdowns promptly.
• Coordinate funding availability for cargo unloading.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections, report defects, and ensure mechanical soundness.
• Maintain cleanliness, proper refuelling, and fuel consumption within client parameters.
• Oversee accurate completion of truck logbooks and ensure timely documentation.
• Guarantee cargo is delivered without contamination, loss, or damage, assisting with loading and tally verification.

• Strong leadership ability to guide drivers and enforce safety protocols.
• Excellent judgment for rapid decision‑making during emergencies.
• Attention to detail for vehicle inspections, logbook accuracy, and cargo handling.
• Ability to manage communications and report status updates consistently.
