Engineering Technician – Assistant Asset Manager

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti is seeking an Engineering Technician to serve as Assistant Asset Manager. Based in Port-au-Prince, the role supports engineering asset management and property accountability for UN missions and partner forces.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and supervise the receipt, inspection, registration, tagging, assignment, transfer, verification, maintenance, write‑off and disposal of engineering assets.
• Assess condition of equipment, buildings and infrastructure, produce technical reports and issue work orders.
• Investigate asset discrepancies and implement corrective actions for missing, damaged or obsolete items.
• Coordinate technical acceptance of assets, ensure compliance with specifications and document non‑conformities.
• Supervise installation, servicing, maintenance and repair activities in line with safety and installation codes.
• Oversee junior staff, contractors and support personnel, providing performance inputs.
• Conduct physical verification, inventory reconciliation and follow‑up on discrepant items.
• Identify resource needs for budgeting and assist in administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in engineering asset management or facilities management.
• Ability to supervise national and international staff and contractors.
• Familiarity with UN procurement and safety standards.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
