Haitian Creole to English Medical Interpreter

About the role

This full‑time remote position involves providing real‑time Haitian Creole ↔ English interpretation for medical appointments, consultations and other healthcare interactions via phone or video platforms. The interpreter ensures accurate, culturally sensitive communication while protecting patient confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver simultaneous and consecutive interpretation between Haitian Creole and English during telehealth sessions.
• Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant medical terminology and patient information.
• Document session details according to company and client guidelines.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and follow established clinical protocols.
• Participate in ongoing training, quality assurance activities, and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in both Haitian Creole and English with excellent listening and speaking abilities.
• Demonstrated experience in medical interpretation, preferably in remote or telehealth settings.
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology across clinical, diagnostic and treatment contexts.
• Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality standards (e.g., HIPAA) and professional boundaries.
• Reliable high‑speed internet, headset and a quiet private workspace.
• High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary education in languages or healthcare is a plus.
• Relevant certification or training in medical interpretation is preferred.
