Human Rights Officer

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking a Human Rights Officer to join its Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDDP) Unit. Based in Port‑au‑Prince, the officer will act as deputy team leader and support the implementation of human rights and international humanitarian law across UN‑supported security operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate monitoring of human rights and international humanitarian law implementation.
• Collect, document, and quality‑control evidence‑based information on civil, cultural, economic, social and political rights.
• Formulate recommendations and strategies to promote and protect human rights in the mission area.
• Support the development of procedures, policies, and the UN Human Rights Due Diligence Policy.
• Design and evaluate mainstreaming strategies for human rights within partner programmes.
• Advise UN agencies, national authorities, civil society and other partners on human‑rights‑related issues.

Required profile

• Experience in monitoring and reporting on human rights and humanitarian law.
• Ability to coordinate multi‑stakeholder initiatives and manage evidence‑based data.
• Familiarity with UN human‑rights frameworks and due‑diligence processes.
