Media Systems Technician I

About the role

The Media Systems Technician I provides technical support for university events and infrastructure. The role involves setting up, testing, and breaking down AV and data systems before, during, and after events, as well as installing and maintaining cabling and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Pre‑event setup and testing of AV and data systems.
• Live event support to maintain system integrity.
• Post‑event breakdown and equipment storage.
• Installation and termination of copper and fiber data cabling.
• Installation of AV cabling and equipment.
• Grounding and bonding of electrical equipment.
• Infrastructure installation (40% of time).
• Infrastructure support (40% of time).
• Event support, including nights and weekends (20% of time).

Required profile

• Experience using hand and power tools, ladders, and lifts.
• Some background in datacom cabling, AV integration, or live production.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent computer and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lb or less regularly.
• Driver certification: age 21+, valid license with 5 years clean driving record.
