Pediatrician for International Humanitarian Missions

About the role

MSF is seeking a qualified pediatrician to join international humanitarian missions across several Central American and Caribbean countries. The position requires a minimum six‑month commitment and involves providing both outpatient and inpatient care for newborns and children in challenging settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive newborn and pediatric care in emergency, OPD and IPD services, following MSF protocols.
• Collaborate with hospital departments such as maternity, ensuring infection control and universal precautions.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve pediatric care after validation by senior advisors.
• Train and supervise multidisciplinary medical and paramedical staff, reviewing complex cases.
• Monitor patient progress, decide on discharge or transfer, and communicate clearly with families.
• Manage medical supplies, medicines, and equipment, ensuring hygiene standards.
• Collect and analyse epidemiological data, contribute to protocol updates, and produce reports for coordination.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a specialty in pediatrics.
• Minimum 3 years of recent pediatric hospital experience, including at least 6 months of clinical work in the last 24 months.
• Fluent English (B2+) and Spanish (C1+); French is an asset.
• Proficiency with standard computer tools (Word, Excel, Internet).
