WASH Engineer

About the role

The WASH Engineer will lead the design, construction, and maintenance of water and sanitation projects for vulnerable communities in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Based in Cap‑Haitian, the role supports the Country Director and Program Manager in delivering sustainable WASH solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement water, sanitation and hygiene systems, ensuring compliance with Living Water standards and donor requirements.
• Prepare bills of quantity, cost estimates and bid documents for construction contracts.
• Supervise on‑site teams including civil engineers, construction workers and plumbers, and coordinate with community representatives and local authorities.
• Develop operation and maintenance manuals for installed water systems.
• Monitor project progress, prepare quarterly activity reports and ensure gender equity throughout project stages.
• Support recruitment of WASH staff and manage qualified personnel to achieve strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in water and sanitation project design, construction and supervision.
• Ability to work with community members, local authorities and donor agencies.
• Strong organizational skills to manage resources, budgets and reporting requirements.
