Workshop Associate (Chief Mechanic) – G6

About the role

The Workshop Associate (Chief Mechanic) will coordinate and control maintenance and repair activities for WFP vehicles and generators across Haiti. Reporting to the National Logistics Manager, the role includes supervising mechanics in the country office and sub‑offices.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and assign repair work for light vehicles, trucks and generators across all WFP sites.
• Receive vehicles/generators, diagnose faults and define required repairs.
• Supervise use of the Fleet Management System (FMS) and ensure accurate work orders, inventory control and reporting.
• Oversee spare‑parts stores, conduct inventories and manage stock of parts and lubricants.
• Ensure safety devices, vehicle testing and workshop hygiene standards are met.
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly and annual workshop reports and support billing to humanitarian partners.

Required profile

• Secondary or professional diploma in automotive mechanics or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years progressive experience supervising automotive repair teams.
• Fluent in French and Haitian Creole; good knowledge of English (Spanish a plus).
• Strong communication, analytical and administrative skills.

Required skills

• Vehicle diagnostics and repair of manual/automatic transmissions, engines, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Welding and electrical system maintenance.
• Use of Fleet Management System (FMS) for work orders and inventory.
• Inventory management and spare‑parts logistics.
