Accounting Manager – Construction & Roofing (Remote)

About the role

Veta Virtual is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the finance function for a fast‑growing roofing and construction company. This fully remote position combines deep technical accounting expertise with strategic leadership to drive profitability and compliance across residential, commercial, and federally funded projects.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full accounting cycle, including reconciliations, month‑end and year‑end close, and financial reporting to leadership.
• Manage job costing and work‑in‑progress schedules, analyzing profitability trends for multiple active jobs.
• Execute percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition and progress billing for all project types.
• Lead integration and optimization of external applications with QuickBooks Online.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, expense management, subcontractor payments, and vendor/client interactions.
• Ensure compliance for federally funded projects, including certified payroll and prevailing wage documentation.
• Guide and coach accounting support staff as the team expands.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow planning.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures as the business scales.
• Leverage tools such as QuickBooks Online, Slack, Google Workspace, Zoom, Bill.com, ClickUp, Gusto, and Ramp to improve efficiency.

Required profile

• 5–7+ years of accounting experience with U.S.-based companies, including full‑cycle accounting ownership.
• Experience in construction or roofing finance is preferred.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to make financial decisions in a fast‑paced, remote environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
