Air Operations Assistant – UN Support Office Haiti

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking a temporary Air Operations Assistant to support safe and efficient air transportation for civilian and military personnel, equipment, and goods. Based in Port‑au‑Prince, the role reports to the Chief of the Air Terminal Unit and may involve occasional assignments to other Haitian airports.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ramp operations, enforce safety zones, and maintain ramp discipline around aircraft.
• Assist aircrew dispatch and coordinate with ground handling agents for services such as cleaning, refuelling, and equipment handling.
• Monitor NOTAMs and relevant airfield notices, and support refuelling coordination while ensuring safety perimeters.
• Guide passengers during boarding and disembarkation in collaboration with MOVCON.
• Conduct visual checks of ground support equipment and participate in FOD (Foreign Object Debris) control campaigns.
• Maintain accurate records of ramp activities, aircraft dispatch, and complete daily hazard identification forms.
• Report incidents, near‑misses, and damages promptly to supervisors.
• Liaise with local authorities (Civil Aviation Authority, Airport Authority, Military Police) to secure airport passes, authorizations, and escort services.

Required profile

• Experience in airport or ramp operations, preferably in a multinational or humanitarian context.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on operational needs.
• Strong attention to safety procedures and ability to follow strict protocols.
• Good communication skills for coordination with aircrew, ground agents, and local authorities.
