Auditor – Internal Oversight Services (UN)

About the role

The Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) of the United Nations is seeking an experienced Auditor to join its Resident Audit Office in Port‑au‑Prince, Haiti. Reporting to the Chief of Section, the Auditor will lead and execute risk‑based audits of large, complex UN operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency and accountability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead audits and special reviews, planning, allocating tasks, monitoring resources and consolidating results in line with OIOS standards.
• Evaluate systems and controls for adequacy, test compliance, reliability of information and economical use of resources.
• Prepare working papers, draft audit reports and present findings to senior management and the General Assembly.
• Coach and supervise junior staff, develop training programmes and monitor implementation of audit recommendations.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in business administration, finance, accounting or related field; CPA, CA, CIA, CFE or CISA certification is desirable.
• Minimum seven years of progressive audit experience, including public‑sector auditing and data‑analytics work.
• Fluent English (required); French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Russian are advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency with audit software and data‑analytics tools such as IDEA, ACL, TeamMate and advanced Excel.
• Ability to create data visualisations and presentations using PowerPoint and other visualization methods.
