Campaign & Engagement Coordinator (Volunteer)

About the role

Hope for Haiti, an international development organization working in Haiti for over 35 years, is seeking a creative, organized and proactive volunteer to support a fundraising initiative centred on the annual Les Cayes Half Marathon. The goal is to recruit 5-10 runners from Haiti and international communities, each committed to raising at least $5,000. The position is unpaid, part-time (about 8-10 hours per week, flexible, with extra availability during race week), remote and open to national and international candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Chief Program Officer and Communications team to develop and run a marketing and recruitment plan.
• Identify running clubs, fitness communities, universities and influencers, and reach out via email and social media.
• Help write promotional material and maintain a contact database of prospects and participants.
• Manage the campaign email, follow up with runners and share fundraising resources and campaign updates.
• Coordinate with Development and Operations teams on participant information and logistics.
• Support participant orientations, provide remote (and optionally in-person) support during race week, and collect post-event feedback.
• Keep weekly progress reports and prepare campaign resources and templates for future initiatives.

Required profile

• Current university student, recent graduate or professional with relevant education or experience in communications, marketing, PR, event coordination, nonprofit management or a related field.
• No minimum professional experience required; digital marketing, community outreach or volunteer experience is an asset.
• Previous fundraising or running-event experience is desirable but not required.

Required skills

• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
• Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
• Ability to use AI tools such as ChatGPT for campaign planning and communications.
• Remote work, independent engagement and teamwork with limited supervision.

Volunteers based in Les Cayes may work from the office if preferred. Travel to Haiti is optional; those who wish to attend can either raise $5,000 through the campaign or qualify for organization-sponsored travel by recruiting at least 10 confirmed participants.
