Chief of Section, Engineering

About the role

The Chief of Section, Engineering provides expert technical advice and oversees the planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of the mission’s facilities and infrastructure in Haiti. Reporting to the Chief of Service Delivery Management, this senior position ensures that engineering activities align with quality, project and risk management best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop short‑ and long‑range engineering plans for design, procurement, construction, and operation of field mission facilities.
• Prepare communication and reporting plans for engineering progress, cost, schedule and quality variances.
• Coordinate with UN officials, national authorities and international partners to exchange engineering information.
• Respond to internal and external audit findings and improve engineering management processes.
• Establish work priorities based on mission deployment status and risk environment.
• Manage annual engineering budgets and resource schedules.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in engineering management within complex, high‑risk environments.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and oversee large‑scale construction projects.
• Strong understanding of quality, project and risk management principles.
• Excellent communication and liaison skills with UN, national and international stakeholders.
