Chief of Section, Engineering (P5)

About the role

The United Nations is seeking a senior engineering professional to lead the Section of Engineering within its Service Delivery Management framework in Port‑au‑Prince. Reporting to the Chief of Service Delivery Management, the incumbent will provide expert technical guidance on engineering documents, policies and procedures that support the mission’s infrastructure and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Offer expert technical advice on all engineering documentation, ensuring alignment with quality, project and risk management best practices.
• Develop short‑ and long‑term plans for design, procurement, construction/commissioning, and operation/maintenance of mission facilities and infrastructure.
• Establish work requirements and priorities based on the mission’s deployment status and mandate.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to implement engineering solutions that meet mission objectives.
• Monitor compliance with established policies, procedures and guidelines, and report progress to senior management.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in engineering management, preferably within large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Strong knowledge of quality management, project management processes and risk management principles.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans for infrastructure design, procurement and maintenance.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills, with a track record of leading technical teams.
• Willingness to be based in Port‑au‑Prince and work onsite.
