About the role
The Docket Coordinator ensures that all court‑related deadlines are accurately tracked and met for the firm’s litigation teams. Working closely with attorneys and legal support staff, the coordinator manages the intake, analysis, and scheduling of docket requests.
Key responsibilities
- Review and process docket requests submitted through the firm’s centralized intake system.
- Analyze pleadings, notices, and correspondence to identify triggering events and calculate deadlines according to FRCP, Michigan Court Rules, and other procedural requirements.
- Apply standardized docketing templates and recommend enhancements to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Communicate with requestors to clarify information, resolve discrepancies, and ensure complete intake data.
- Serve as a subject‑matter resource on docketing procedures, court rules, and deadline inquiries.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of docketing workflows, training resources, and special projects.
Required profile
- Minimum two years of litigation practice group or docketing experience.
- Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Michigan Court Rules; familiarity with court websites.
- Associate’s degree in a related legal or business field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, critical‑thinking, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
Required skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with NetDocs or similar document‑management software.
- Familiarity with BEC Software (preferred).
