Engineer (P3) – Engineering & Facilities Management

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti is seeking a temporary Engineer (P3) to join the Engineering and Facilities Management Section in Port‑au‑Prince. The role supports the Gang Suppression Force, the Integrated Office, Haitian National Police and Armed Forces, providing engineering and physical‑security solutions for field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Apply engineering calculations and standards to design, construct or repair infrastructure such as buildings, roads, bridges, airfields, helipads, railways, docks, waste‑disposal, flood‑control, water‑treatment, power generation and distribution, and environmental control systems.
• Develop and review specifications for physical‑security measures including perimeter protection, access‑control infrastructure, facility hardening, blast and ballistic protection, and mine detection/clearance.
• Manage UN engineering records, Umoja Real Estate accounting, solicitation processes, requisitions and asset management in accordance with UN rules.
• Conduct technical evaluations of engineering solicitations and produce cost estimates for current and planned missions.
• Coordinate with other engineers and mission specialists to ensure feasible, resource‑aligned project proposals.

Required profile

• Professional engineering degree with solid knowledge of engineering management and physical‑security engineering in UN field deployments.
• Experience in project design, cost estimation and UN administrative processes.
• Ability to work under delegated authority and liaise with multiple security and mission stakeholders.
