Mechanic (G4) – Vehicle and Generator Maintenance

About the role

The World Food Programme (WFP) seeks a qualified Mechanic (G4) to maintain and repair its fleet of vehicles, generators and related equipment in Jeremie, Haiti. The role supports the logistics team to ensure reliable transport for humanitarian operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repairs on light and heavy vehicles, generators and other transport equipment.
• Plan, organize and supervise workshop activities, ensuring timely service delivery and safety compliance.
• Conduct regular inspections using diagnostic tools, recommend cost‑effective solutions and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Install and maintain on‑board communication equipment such as VHF radios and satellite tracking systems.
• Provide technical advice and on‑the‑job training to drivers and junior mechanics.

Required profile

• Secondary education completed with technical training in automotive or mechanical maintenance.
• At least four years of progressive experience in vehicle and generator maintenance.
• Valid driver’s licence for utility and light vehicles as per local regulations.
• Physical fitness to handle heavy loads and wear protective clothing.
