Movement Control Officer

About the role

The Movement Control Officer will work within the United Nations Support Office in Haiti, reporting to the Chief of the Movement Control Unit. The role ensures safe, efficient, and cost‑effective transport of passengers and cargo, including dangerous goods, for UN and partner operations in Haiti.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate regional movement control activities and provide reliable transport services for passengers and cargo.
• Prepare operational plans, performance reports, and audit responses in consultation with supervisors.
• Develop cost‑effective transport plans, evaluate contracts, and advise on outsourcing options.
• Monitor data accuracy in management information systems and ensure compliance with UN financial regulations.
• Supervise cargo warehouse operations, including receipt, registration, and preparation of shipments.
• Oversee movement control assistants, passenger clerks, and cargo handlers at air, riverine, and terminal facilities.
• Coordinate inbound freight deliveries, track shipments in the Umoja ERP system, and resolve delivery issues.
• Participate in procurement processes, vendor evaluations, and contract reviews to meet technical requirements.
