About the role
WFP Haiti is seeking a National Staff Counsellor to provide professional counselling and psychological support to staff and, when needed, their dependents. The role focuses on assisting employees facing traumatic or highly stressful situations arising from the country’s socio‑economic challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group counselling services, including case management and referrals, especially after critical incidents.
- Conduct regular field visits, prepare visit reports and provide follow‑up support to field‑based staff.
- Facilitate induction courses for newly recruited staff and organise support sessions for the Hotline team.
- Develop and deliver training programmes on resilience, team‑building, harassment prevention and cross‑cultural sensitivity based on data trends.
- Identify and liaise with high‑quality local mental‑health resources for referrals and crisis response.
- Prepare monthly activity reports with statistical data and maintain the highest ethical standards in psychological service delivery.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in clinical or counselling psychology, sociology or related field, with at least five years relevant experience.
- Active licensure/registration as a mental‑health professional with a recognized governing body.
- Fluency in English and French (written and oral); additional local language is an advantage.
- Minimum two years of progressively responsible counselling experience, preferably in hardship or insecure environments.

- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
