Operations Engineer – Midstream Engineering Support

About the role

The Operations Engineer provides engineering support to Midstream Operations and Commercial teams, analyzing operational problems and delivering value‑enhancing solutions. The role works closely with integrity management, project managers, and commercial teams on new projects and acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Interact with control room and field personnel to diagnose issues, develop alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions.
• Design initial engineering scopes, schedules and cost estimates for maintenance, capital, and growth projects.
• Coordinate third‑party engineering designs and ensure execution aligns with project scope.
• Lead or support Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for processing facilities and resolve identified issues.
• Perform hydraulic simulations of pressures and flow rates for oil, NGL and natural gas pipelines.
• Assist commercial team with feasibility designs, cost estimates and due‑diligence on midstream asset acquisitions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of oil and gas engineering experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university; Professional Engineer license preferred.
• Broad knowledge of civil, electrical, mechanical and process control engineering.
• Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and ability to conduct PHAs.

Required skills

• Hydraulic modeling and simulation for gas and liquids.
• Process simulation software (e.g., Promax or equivalent).
• Heat and material balance calculations for existing and new process designs.
• Sizing of relief and control valves for gas and liquid systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot operational issues at crude oil, NGL and olefins terminals.
