Protection Officer – Gender-Based Violence

About the role

The Protection Officer will support IOM’s response to the humanitarian crisis in Haiti by providing specialized protection services for internally displaced persons, with a focus on gender‑based violence (GBV). The role involves direct assistance to survivors, coordination with partners, and contribution to the overall safety and well‑being of vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct GBV risk assessments and identify protection gaps in displacement settings.
• Provide case management and psychosocial support to GBV survivors, ensuring confidentiality and safety.
• Coordinate with UN agencies, NGOs, and local authorities to deliver integrated protection and health services.
• Collect, analyze, and report data on protection incidents and GBV trends.
• Develop and deliver awareness‑raising activities on GBV prevention and response.
• Support the design and implementation of emergency response plans that address protection risks.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., social sciences, humanitarian affairs, public health).
• Proven experience in GBV protection, case management, or related humanitarian work.
• Knowledge of international protection standards and GBV protocols.
• Ability to work in insecure and rapidly changing environments.
• Fluency in English; French is an asset.
