P4 Engineer – United Nations Support Office in Haiti

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is recruiting two P4 Engineers for temporary assignments in Port‑au‑Prince. The positions will support the Mission’s Service Delivery Pillar, reporting to the Chief Engineer (P‑5), and may be placed in either a design‑and‑contract management stream or a field engineering and construction stream, depending on operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs, technical documentation and cost estimates for infrastructure projects.
• Manage real‑estate and engineering transactions through the Umoja system, including task orders and contract administration.
• Control project budgets, monitor expenditures and produce regular reporting for senior management.
• Supervise and coordinate on‑site construction activities such as roads, bridges, water and sanitation facilities, electrical installations and temporary field camps.
• Oversee rehabilitation or reinforcement of existing structures and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Act as deputy or Officer‑in‑Charge for the Chief Engineer when required.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in civil, mechanical, electrical or related engineering discipline.
• Significant professional engineering experience, preferably at senior (P4) level, in design, contract management or field construction.
• Demonstrated ability to work in challenging security environments and coordinate with multiple UN and Haitian partners.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
