International Consultant – Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (Protection Unit)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks an experienced consultant to lead Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities within its Protection Unit in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The role focuses on strengthening and expanding MHPSS interventions for displaced persons, migrants and other vulnerable groups affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation of current MHPSS interventions and develop strategic plans for expansion.
• Provide operational and programmatic oversight for all MHPSS projects.
• Offer technical guidance to the MHPSS field team and ensure alignment with the Protection Unit.
• Advise on new strategies, projects and activities to improve MHPSS services for IDPs, migrants and vulnerable communities.
• Ensure integration of MHPSS approaches across all IOM program units.
• Support implementing partners with technical and financial oversight of MHPSS activities.
• Design capacity‑building initiatives for the Ministry of Health and Health Cluster partners, focusing on suicide prevention among IDPs.
• Monitor national policies and developments related to mental health, psychosocial response and intercultural communication needs.

Required profile

• Experience coordinating MHPSS interventions in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and oversight to multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with protection and migration contexts in Haiti.
• Capacity to work under the supervision of senior protection and emergency coordination staff.
