Close Protection Officer – UN Support Office Haiti

About the role

The Close Protection Officer (FS‑4) will join the Close Protection Team of the Safety and Security Section at the United Nations Support Office in Haiti. Reporting to the Close Protection Team Leader, the incumbent will provide personal security for designated officials and support joint operations with the Gang Suppression Force, BINUH, Haitian National Police and Armed Forces.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct personal protection operations, maintaining close proximity to the protected individual and responding to threats in line with UN guidelines.
• Plan, prepare and execute close‑protection movements, coordinating with the Security Operations Unit and other security personnel.
• Operate and maintain all issued protection and communications equipment, ensuring readiness at all times.
• Provide guidance and supervision to drivers attached to the Close Protection Unit during operational duties.
• Participate in training, briefings and practical exercises on close‑protection topics and report incidents through the established chain of command.

Required profile

• High‑school diploma or equivalent, with at least six years of progressive experience in military, police or security roles.
• Professionalism, sound judgment, ability to remain calm in emergencies and willingness to work shifts under demanding conditions.
• Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team and maintain effective relationships with security partners.

Required skills

• Certification on G36, MP5 and Glock weapon systems.
• SSAFE‑HEAT training for high‑risk environments.
• Armored vehicle operation training.
• Emergency Trauma Bag (ETB) and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) certification.
• Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK) and IFAK Training of Trainers (ToT) certification.
• Field Security Associate (FSA) certification and familiarity with Security Incident Reporting (SSIRS) procedures.
