Deputy Chief Security Officer

About the role

The Deputy Chief Security Officer supports the Chief Security Officer in managing all security aspects for the United Nations Support Office in Haiti, ensuring the safety of staff, facilities and operations in a complex environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Security Officer in overseeing the Mission Security Section and ensure compliance with Security Risk Management (SRM) policies.
• Monitor physical security measures, fire safety, emergency communications, and coordinate investigations of security incidents and accidents.
• Provide close‑protection services for senior personnel and visiting delegations, and conduct security training for staff.
• Develop and review security risk assessments, security plans and evacuation capabilities for air, land and sea operations.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in security management, international relations, or related field; or a first‑level degree with at least two additional years of relevant experience.
• Minimum seven years of professional experience in security management, preferably in an international or UN context.
• UNDSS weapons qualifications (G36, Glock 19, MP5) and certification in Security Analysis, Hostage Incident Management.

Required skills

• Proficiency with G36, Glock 19 and MP5 weapons systems.
• Knowledge of security analysis practices and hostage incident management procedures.
