Dietary Aide (Part Time)

About the role

The Dietary Aide supports the Director of Culinary Services and the Dietary Manager in delivering safe, courteous, and high‑quality meal services to residents and guests at a long‑term care residence. This part‑time position involves direct interaction with residents, preparation of food items, and maintaining a clean dining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist with set‑up and preparation of beverages, salads, desserts, and other menu items.
• Set and clear dining tables, provide tray service, and clean dishware and cutlery after each seating.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
• Support catering for special occasions and themed events.
• Help orient and train new dietary staff members.
• Follow health‑ and safety‑legislation, provincial regulations, and departmental policies.
• Promote resident rights and participate in quality‑improvement programs.
• Uphold the organization’s values, ethics, and code of conduct.
• Complete any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Current Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Enrollment in or completion of a Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation.
• Physical ability to lift heavy, hot items and stand or walk for most of the shift.
• Ability to provide a recent Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Preference given to candidates with prior food‑service experience, especially with seniors.
