Project/Grant Accountant

About the role

The Project/Grant Accountant supports the financial management of assigned projects and grants, ensuring compliance with CRS accounting standards, GAAP, donor requirements, and legal regulations throughout the project life cycle. The role focuses on project‑specific financial transactions, documentation, analysis, and reporting while working closely with project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Set and monitor accounting and financial reporting procedures for sub‑recipients and partners.
• Maintain data in the Insight financial accounting package for all project/grant transactions.
• Review and validate supporting documentation before processing transactions.
• Record financial transactions according to authorizations and detect irregularities.
• Lead financial close‑out of global projects and prepare periodic and ad‑hoc financial reports.
• Assess and strengthen sub‑recipient financial management processes.
• Monitor disbursement/receipt schedules and ensure timely reporting.
• Develop tools, manuals, and training to ensure compliance with donor policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Experience with grant or project accounting and familiarity with GAAP and donor regulations.
• Ability to analyze financial data, prepare journal entries, and perform variance analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Insight financial accounting package.
