Public Health Advisor – Communicable & Non‑communicable Diseases

About the role

The Public Health Advisor will support national and regional efforts in Haiti to prevent, control and manage communicable and non‑communicable diseases. Working on‑site in Port‑au‑Prince, the advisor will provide technical guidance, integrate evidence‑based interventions into primary health care and contribute to emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to health authorities and design disease prevention and control programmes.
• Strengthen surveillance systems, improve case management and promote health‑promotion and risk‑reduction strategies.
• Analyze epidemiological data, prepare reports and briefings for policy makers.
• Organise capacity‑building activities such as trainings, workshops and mentoring for health professionals.
• Collaborate with government counterparts, civil society and international partners to ensure alignment with PAHO and WHO strategic frameworks.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, medicine, epidemiology or a related health discipline.
• Professional experience planning, implementing and evaluating public‑health programmes on communicable and non‑communicable diseases at national or international level.
• Proficiency in analysing and interpreting epidemiological and health‑systems data to inform policy and programme design.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills with governments, NGOs and international organisations.
• Excellent written and oral communication in at least two official PAHO/WHO languages.
