Security Associate (G‑6) – Temporary 6‑Month Assignment

About the role

The Security Associate provides practical, operational, and field‑based security support for UNICEF staff and assets in Port‑au‑Prince. The role involves accompanying personnel on missions, gathering and reporting security information, liaising with local authorities, and ensuring the safety of staff, premises and official travel.

Key responsibilities

• Accompany UNICEF personnel on missions and field movements, ensuring their safety.
• Observe, collect and report security‑related information from the ground.
• Maintain regular liaison with local authorities, community interlocutors and other relevant stakeholders.
• Safeguard UNICEF personnel, premises and assets at the duty station and during official travel.
• Drive when required, adhering to defensive‑driving standards and UN security protocols.

Required profile

• Completion of secondary education.
• Relevant training in technical/military/security courses, guarding, first aid or defensive driving.
• Valid national driver’s licence.
• Minimum six years of progressively responsible experience in a security‑related environment.
• Fluency in French.
• Demonstrated self‑awareness, drive to achieve, ability to embrace change and manage ambiguity.

Required skills

• Security training (technical/military/security courses).
• First‑aid certification.
• Defensive‑driving qualification.
• Valid driver’s licence.
