Security Officer (FS-5) – UN Support Office

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking two Security Officers (FS-5) to join its Safety and Security Section, Emergency Response Team. Based in Port‑au‑Prince, the role supports the Gang Suppression Force, the Integrated Office, Haitian National Police and Armed Forces, as well as the Organization of American States.

Key responsibilities

• Assist PSA/CSO and Security Coordination Officers in office management and supervise a security unit as needed.
• Develop, monitor and implement security contingency plans for the unit.
• Manage daily operations of the emergency response team, including a 24‑hour Emergency Response System.
• Assess local security conditions, identify trends and advise UN personnel and dependents.
• Participate in the Security Cell and contribute to security plan evaluation.
• Evaluate and test air, land and sea evacuation capabilities and conduct exercises.
• Maintain tracking systems, coordinate emergency evacuations and brief senior officers on unit status.
• Identify training needs, inspect security equipment and recommend capability improvements.

Required profile

• Professional background in military, police or security operations.
• In‑depth knowledge of security risk management and contingency planning.
• Ability to operate in high‑risk or volatile environments.
• Strong analytical skills to assess security trends and risks.
• Effective communication with UN and non‑UN stakeholders.
