Business Development Specialist – Grants Acquisitions

About the role

The Business Development Specialist supports Compassion’s effort to secure funding from U.S. government agencies and international donors. Working on a 12‑month contract in a hybrid national office/home‑office setup, the role leads proposal development while upholding Compassion’s Christian values and child‑protection standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and act as a consistent witness in line with Compassion’s ministry.
• Advocate for child protection, report any concerns, and follow Compassion’s Code of Conduct.
• Contribute to the grant opportunity tracking system and conduct basic landscape analysis of funding trends.
• Investigate and summarize potential sub‑grant partnerships under donor‑rule guidance.
• Coordinate the proposal development process, collaborating with Finance, Legal, MERL and other cross‑functional teams.
• Own proposal writing and review to ensure completeness, compliance, and alignment with donor requirements.
• Manage partner mapping and external engagement for the National Office, serving as primary contact for assigned components.
• Support editing, final packaging, and preparation of proposal components such as logic models, MERL frameworks, and budgets.
• Collaborate with the Global Philanthropic Engagement team to integrate matched funding or foundation partnerships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in grant acquisition or proposal writing.
• Advanced proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to work with moderate supervision and manage assigned proposal components.
• Commitment to Compassion’s child‑protection policies and cultural behaviors.
