Deputy Country Director – Senior Leadership Role

About the role

Acted is seeking a Deputy Country Director to support the Country Director in advancing its humanitarian, development, climate and environmental programmes. The role will help shape the country strategy, strengthen donor relations and ensure high‑quality programme delivery across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct context analysis and keep the organization updated on socio‑economic trends, donor landscapes and stakeholder mapping (3W).
• Assist in developing and rolling out programme strategies, identifying opportunities for expansion.
• Represent Acted with government bodies, donors, partners and the media; produce advocacy notes, issue papers and press releases.
• Oversee external communications and promote Acted’s global initiatives at the country level.
• Manage staff, internal coordination, conflict and crisis situations.
• Track project implementation, ensure grant compliance, and maintain quality control.
• Supervise partner relationships, finance, logistics, IT, HR, audit follow‑up, compliance, security and legal matters.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher.
• Minimum three years of senior management experience abroad.
• Strong organisational abilities and experience leading large national and international teams.
• Proven project‑management background, especially with institutional components.
• Experience fostering community participation and liaising with local authorities.
