Human Rights Advisor (P4) – Port-au-Prince

About the role

The Human Rights Advisor will support the Office of the Special Representative of the Gang Suppression Force Secretariat (GSFS) in Haiti. Based in Port‑au‑Prince, the advisor will provide expert guidance on human‑rights issues, ensure compliance with UN SEAH standards, and contribute to the design and implementation of technical cooperation activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic advice on human‑rights protection and mainstreaming within GSFS operations.
• Develop, coordinate and monitor human‑rights technical cooperation projects.
• Analyse the human‑rights situation in Haiti, produce analytical reports and briefings for senior leadership.
• Facilitate liaison with national authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Ensure all activities adhere to the UN Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEA) policies.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in human rights, law, political science, international relations or a related field.
• Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in human‑rights work at national or international level, preferably with development or humanitarian exposure.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing human‑rights technical cooperation or mainstreaming initiatives.
• Fluency in French and English is mandatory; knowledge of Haitian Creole is an asset.
