Rations Assistant

About the role

The Rations Assistant will support the UN Rations Unit in Port‑au‑Prince, ensuring that food supplies are documented, stored, inspected and reported in compliance with UN standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify documentation for approximately 28 containers per week, including delivery notes, invoices and ration records.
• Monitor temperature logs for ambient, chilled and frozen storage points and ensure compliance with GHP/HACCP standards.
• Witness and document the disposal of rejected or unfit food items at warehouse and cafeteria sites.
• Conduct weekly hygiene inspections of cafeteria and TCC kitchens across five sites and bi‑weekly inspections at contingent premises.
• Enter data and generate weekly/monthly reports using the eRMS system, tracking consumption and stock movements.
• Maintain inventory control using FIFO/LIFO methods, perform stock counts and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Coordinate with vendors, transport providers and other contractors to ensure timely delivery of rations.

Required profile

• High school diploma (minimum); higher education or technical certificate in agriculture, food technology, catering, supply chain or logistics is desirable.
• At least three years of progressive experience in supply chain, inventory management or the food industry.
• Working knowledge of English; French is a plus.

• eRMS data‑entry and reporting.
• Temperature monitoring and food safety inspection.
• Inventory control (FIFO/LIFO) and stock reconciliation.
