Security Officer – Security Investigator (UN Support Office, Haiti)

About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking a Security Officer to serve as a Security Investigator. Based in Port‑au‑Prince, you will join the Safety and Security Section and support the Chief Security Officer in investigating security incidents, preserving evidence, and ensuring accountability for UN personnel and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Security Officer in planning and coordinating investigative activities.
• Conduct investigations into security incidents, misconduct allegations, and other fact‑finding inquiries.
• Collect, preserve, and analyse documentary, physical, and testimonial evidence following established procedures.
• Interview witnesses and maintain liaison with host‑country authorities, law‑enforcement agencies, UN entities, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations, and brief senior security staff on emerging issues.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and propose measures to improve procedures and operational effectiveness.
• Contribute to training and guidance on investigative processes.
• Maintain investigative records, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of information.
• Perform administrative, operational, and Duty Officer duties as required.

Required profile

• Experience in security investigations, law‑enforcement, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of UN security policies, procedures, and the United Nations Security Management System.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including national authorities and UN partners.
• Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to upholding UN standards of conduct.
