About the role

The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) is seeking a senior medical leader to head its Medical Services Section. Reporting to senior mission management, the Chief of Section, Medical will oversee all medical logistics, clinical services, and health‑related training for UN staff and partners operating in Haiti.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage and supervise the delivery of medical services across the mission, including the UN Clinic and associated medical staff.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management and professional development of clinical, administrative and occupational‑safety personnel.
• Prepare annual budgets, monitor expenditures and ensure efficient use of medical supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate procurement and ensure the availability and functionality of medical equipment and supplies.
• Implement UNHQ directives, healthcare facility standards and HQPS quality and patient‑safety requirements.
• Develop and deliver training programs such as health education, HIV/AIDS prevention, first aid and CPR.
• Manage relationships with staff counsellors, senior mission officials, specialized agencies, military physicians, laboratories, pharmaceutical companies and medical societies.
• Oversee access to the EarthMed medical record system, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality and compliance with UN policies.

Required profile

• Senior medical officer at P‑5 level with proven leadership experience in a multinational or UN environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large medical teams and complex health‑service operations.
• Experience in budgeting, procurement and resource management for medical programs.
• Strong knowledge of UN health standards, patient safety and quality assurance frameworks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the EarthMed medical record system.
